Sexual Selection
Honest Signaling
Behavioral Compatibility
My research focuses on the function of eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis) song in sexual selection, specifically in honestly communicating individual quality and behavioral compatibility to potential mates. I am interested in examining both the loud song and the predator alarm song, the latter sung by males and females. I am also interested in examining how behavioral similarities or differences between pair-bonded male and female bluebirds affect reproductive success.
